薄暮を感じる。真昼の陽光を広がるような明るい画面でさえ、末松由華利の絵に。薄暮は夕暮れのことだが、けれどそれは夜明けへ向かう逆走の薄暮だ。薄暮は（逆走のそれも）持続が短く変化が速い。末松の絵にある儚さと、時間の推移が見える（動いている）ような感覚。希望をかきたてながら、それを打ち砕きもするこの美しい時空には、強い感情に裏打ちされたメッセージに、肺の底から吐（つ）いて出るため息が融けている。若さを描き手が生きる、この不確定な時代の影像でもあるのだろうか。（企画者・文：大倉 宏／主催：新潟絵屋＋企画者）
I sense twilight in Yukari Suematsu’s paintings; Even in her bright canvases that seem to spread the midday sunlight — I sense twilight. Twilight refers to dusk, yet this is a twilight that runs backward toward dawn. Twilight — even this backward-running kind—is fleeting and changes rapidly. I see the transience in Suematsu’s paintings and a sense that the passage of time is visible (moving). In this beautiful space-time, which stirs hope only to shatter it, sighs that rise from the depths of one’s lungs melt into messages underpinned by powerful emotions. 末松由華利（すえまつ ゆかり）
埼玉生まれ、大阪育ち。2010年多摩美術大油画専攻卒。ASTER Curator Museum（石川）、高島屋（大阪、東京）、三越（東京）などで個展。2021年ゆいぽーと（新潟）に滞在し開催した成果展「空と海を砂で分く」が縁で新潟絵屋で 22、24年に個展を開催。17年9～11月長野、22年3月フィンランドでも滞在制作を行い発表。グループ展多数。デザイン（テキスタイルやディスプレイ）との協働制作も行う。 yukarisuematsu.wixsite.com
Yukari Suematsu
Born in Saitama Prefecture and raised in Osaka Prefecture. She graduated from Tama Art University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in oil painting. Solo exhibitions: ASTER Curator Museum (Ishikawa), Takashimaya (Osaka, Tokyo), and Mitsukoshi (Tokyo) and others. Following the show “Dividing the Sky and Sea with the Sand,” held during her residency at Yui Port (Niigata) in 2021, she held solo exhibitions at Niigata Eya in 2022 and 2024. She also conducted artist residencies and presented her work in Nagano from September to November 2017, and in Finland in March 2022. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions and collaborates on design projects (including textiles and displays). https://yukarisuematsu.wixsite.com
