三瓶初美の新しい絵に木や鳥や道などのイメージが出てきた。ずっと抽象の絵を見てきたので、おどろいたが、そうか、たしかに、抽象的な画面の底にもこういうイメージが、街角と、公園とが、見えないけれどあったのだろうと納得した。
プレヴェールの詩「バルバラ」では、街角で見かけた見知らぬ男女の恋の行方を想う心が記される。人は公園に、小動物や鳥が集まるように行き、出会い、別れ、すれ違う。そこには村や町にはない、都市という独特な自然のありようがあって、その空気を、三瓶は、彼女の絵はずっと呼吸してきたのだ。雨のにおいとコーヒーの香りが溶け合う、幼い頃私の心にもあった、いつか行けるかもしれない遠い場所への憧れを思い出す。（企画者：大倉宏）
三瓶初美（さんべ はつみ）
東京都生まれ。上野の森美術館大賞展、川の絵画大賞展（加古川）、風の芸術展（枕崎）、熊谷守一大賞展、上海アートフェアに出品。2013・15・17年ギャラリー島田deux（神戸）、2016・18年新潟絵屋、 NICHE GALLERY（銀座）で個展。

In a new painting by Hatsumi Sanbe images of trees, birds, and roads appeared. I was surprised because I had been looking at her abstract paintings for a long time, but I was convinced that these images, street corners and parks, were also underneath her abstract paintings even though I had not been able to see them.
Jacques Prevert’s poem “Barbara” describes the heart of a person who recalls the course of love between a man and a woman, whom he met by chance on a street corner. People go to the park, just as small animals and birds gather, meet, part, and pass each other. This is a unique nature in the city that is not found in villages and towns, and Sanbe and her paintings have been breathing that air for a long time. The smell of rain and the aroma of coffee meld together, reminding me of the longing I had in my heart as a child for a distant place I might someday visit. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)
Hatsumi Sanbe
Born in Tokyo. Sanbe has exhibited at the Ueno Royal Museum’s Grand Prize Exhibition, River Painting Grand Prize Exhibition (Kakogawa), Wind Art Exhibition (Makurazaki), Kumagai Moriichi Grand Prize Exhibition, Shanghai Art Fair, and has held solo exhibitions at Gallery Shimada deux (Kobe) in 2013, 2015 and 2017, Niigata Eya and NICHE GALLERY (Ginza, Tokyo) in 2016 and 2018.
