Open Eyaは、個展の開催をサポートする新潟絵屋の活動のひとつです。
2025年3月からすこしずつ準備を進めてきました。どうぞおたのしみに！

今井リエコ（いまい　りえこ）
1992年生まれ。長岡市栃尾で育つ。
2015年 明星大学造形芸術学部絵画コース卒業。
2020年 ギャラリーみつけで個展「どろどろハッピー」開催。
2024年 maison deたびのそら屋　企画展「Restart」参加。

　はじめて瞽女唄を聴いた時は驚いた。哀調を帯びた悲しい唄なのだろう、という思い込みを軽く吹き飛ばす明るさ靭（つよ）さ。何よりも身体の底から楽しくなった。
　そう、TVもSNSも無い時代、瞽女は村の皆が心待ちにする娯楽だった。人々は花の咲くのを待つように、瞽女の到着を待ったのだろう。
　2026年最初の新潟絵屋を、明るく靭い線で描いた植木須美子の作品で始める。豊かで眩しい風が絵屋に吹いてくるようだ。（企画者：田代早苗）

The first time I heard a Goze’s (blind singer) song, I was astonished. Its brightness and suppleness effortlessly blew away my preconception that it would be a sad song tinged with melancholy. Above all, it made me feel joyful from the depths of my being.
Yes, in an era without TV or social media, Gozes were the entertainment the whole village eagerly awaited. People must have anticipated their arrival like they waited for flowers to bloom.
We begin the first Niigata Eya exhibit of 2026 with Sumiko Ueki’s work, painted with bright, strong lines. It feels like a rich, dazzling wind is blowing through the Eya. (Exhibition Planner: Sanae Tashiro)

植木須美子（うえき すみこ）
1921年新潟市生まれ。39年東京府立第五高等女学校卒業。62年新潟女流版画協会創立。高橋信一氏に師事。64年より日本版画協会、国画会展に出品。70、71年新潟県美術展県展賞受賞。81年日本版画協会会員推挙。84年より無所属。85年日本版画文化友好代表団で中国訪問。個展は「越のうた散歩原画展」「なつかしい昭和のはじめの子供達」「北欧　英吉利風景」（新潟伊勢丹）、「新古町版画通り原画展」（新潟大和）、「瞽女さ」（新潟マスターズギャラリー）等。96年にはリトアニアで蔵書票、フランスで木版画を発表。2022年逝去。

Sumiko Ueki
Born in Niigata City in 1921, graduated from Tokyo Prefectural Daigo High School for Girls in 1939. Founded Niigata Women’s Print Association in 1962 and studied under Shinichi Takahashi. Exhibited at the Japan Print Association and Kokuga-kai exhibitions from 1964; won the Niigata Prefectural Art Exhibition Prize in 1970 and 1971; nominated as a member of the Japan Print Association in 1981; unaffiliated since 1984. She visited China in 1985 with the Japan Print Culture Friendship Delegation. She had solo exhibitions such as “Koshi no Uta Sanpo Genga Exhibition,” “Natsukashii Showa no Hajime no Kodomotachi,” “Scandinavia, England Scenery” (Isetan, Niigata), “Shinfurumachi Hanga Dori Genga Exhibition” (Daiwa, Niigata), “Goze sa” (Niigata Masters Gallery), etc. In 1996, she exhibited a bookplate in Lithuania and woodblock prints in France. Passed away in 2022.

「越後瞽女唄・才蔵ズ」：最後の瞽女と言われ、人間国宝の認定を受け三条市の名誉市民でもある小林ハルさんの直弟子、継承者の竹下玲子氏から指導を受けた須藤れい子氏が2018年に結成。三条市「小林ハル瞽女保存会」会員。2022年日本初となる新潟の演奏家による新潟の民謡、オムニバス・カバーアルバムに参加。2025年2月十日町雪祭り出演、同年8月愛知県豊田市 橋の下大盆踊り出演。写真はVincent Moonの映像作品より。

　円に内接する三角形を想像してみる。その三角形が徐々に膨張する。接点を突いて頂点がはみ出る。七里知子の絵はそんな円と内接する三角形だった。円は「美しい」。三角は「なじみのないもの」である。病の時の前後を経てあらわれてきた新作ではこの円を三角形の頂点が貫き、穴を開けている。美しい絵にその穴から外が、えもしれない底なし沼が覗き、目が無限定の虚空へ投げだされる。沼、虚空は絵を暗くするが、この暗さは七里の絵の美しさを照らすバックライトだ。（企画者：大倉宏）

Imagine a triangle inscribed within a circle. That triangle gradually expands. Its vertices push against the contact points and protrude outward. Tomoko Shichiri’s paintings were like such triangles inscribed within circles. The circle is “beautiful.” The triangle is “something unfamiliar.” In the new works that emerged after her illness, the triangle’s apex pierces this circle, opening a hole. Through that hole in the beautiful painting, the outside—perhaps a bottomless swamp—peeks through, and the eye is cast into boundless emptiness. The swamp, the void, darkens the painting, but this darkness is the backlight illuminating the beauty of Shichiri’s work. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

七里知子（しちり ともこ）
北海道生まれ。京都芸術大学大学院芸術表現専攻修士課程修了。近年の個展は、2014年「記憶の断片」（Gallery MIYASHITA／札幌）、15年「たちのぼるけはい」（Gallery&Space SIO／大阪）、16年「儚い膜」（アートスペース虹／京都）など。新潟絵屋では14年「風景の行間」、18年「Reverberation」、21年「杳杳」、23年「光を掬う」を発表。恵文社一乗寺店、 kit、ちせ（京都）、ブックギャラリーポポタム（東京）、マゼコゼ（長野）や北書店などで版画を発表。

Tomoko Shichiri
Born in Hokkaido. Completed Graduate School at Kyoto University of Arts, Department of Art Expression. Recent solo exhibitions include “Fragments of Memory” (Gallery MIYASHITA, Sapporo), “A presence rises” (Gallery & Space SIO, Osaka) in 2015, “Fleeting membrane” (Art Space Niji, Kyoto) in 2016, and others. At Niigata Eya, “Between the lines of the landscape” in 2014, “Reverberation” (Niigata Eya) in 2018, “you-you” in 2021, and “Scooping Light” in 2023. Her mezzotint works have been exhibited at Keibunsha Ichijyojiten, kit, Chise (Kyoto), Book & Gallery POPOTAMU (Tokyo), library & Gallery MAZEKOZE (Nagano) and Kitashoten (Niigata).

糸を紡ぎ、布を織る齋藤伸絵さん。石を磨き、金属を加工する阿部信子さん。扱っている素材は異なるが、「ふたりとも、どこまでもアナログで、恐ろしく手がかかることを淡々と楽しくやっている」と阿部さんは言う。繊細でシビアな手仕事から生まれる作品は、だけどどこまでも柔らかく、暖かい。４年ぶりの二人展。冬に向かう季節に、目で見て、手にして、身につけて楽しみたい。（企画者：上田浩子）

Spinning thread and weaving cloth: Nobue Saito. Polishing stone and working metal: Nobuko Abe. Though their materials differ, Ms. Abe remarks, “Both are utterly analog, calmly and joyfully tackling incredibly labor-intensive tasks.” Yet the works born from this delicate, demanding handiwork remain infinitely soft and warm. Their first joint exhibition in four years. As winter approaches, I would like to enjoy seeing, holding, and wearing these pieces. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroko Ueda)

齋藤伸絵（さいとう のぶえ）
県内外で個展、グループ展開催、クラフトフェア出展。長岡造形大学市民工房、ソノキアトリエ染織講師。宮城県仙台市生まれ、新潟市在住。「ウール、絹、麻などの素材自体の違い、個体差もある繊維をそれぞれで、または組み合わせて“染めて紡いで糸にして織る”ことで新しく生まれてくる色、風合い、佇まい、そんなものにずっと魅せられて制作しています」
Nobue Saito
Holds solo and group exhibitions within and outside Niigata prefecture; participates in craft fairs. Lecturer at Nagaoka Institute and Design Citizen Workshop and Sonoki Atelier Dyeing and Weaving. Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; lives in Niigata City. Saito said, “I’ve always been captivated by the colors, textures, and presence that emerge when I dye, spin, and weave fibers—each with its own inherent differences and variations, whether wool, silk, or linen—either individually or in combination. This fascination drives my work.”

阿部信子（あべ のぶこ）
県内外で個展、グループ展を開催。アトリエNOVI主宰、新潟デザイン専門学校非常勤講師。新潟市在住。「ここ数年、ジュエリーを制作する傍ら自ら石を磨いています。石と金属はどちらも鉱物ですが個性も表情も全く違います。そのお互いの良さを活かすよう自然と対話をするような気持ちで制作をしています」
Nobuko Abe
Holds solo and group exhibitions within and outside Niigata Prefecture; Director of Atelier NOVI; part-time lecturer at Niigata College of Art and Design. Lives in Niigata City. Abe said, “For the past few years, alongside creating jewelry, I’ve been polishing stones myself. Though both stones and metals are minerals, their individuality and expressions are entirely different. I create with a mindset of conversing with nature, aiming to bring out the best in each of them.”
