作品は生きている、と思う。作家が亡くなっても、それとは別に作品は生き続ける。
主を失った部屋の鳥籠に極彩の鳥たちが美しい声でさえずっている。泉谷さんのお宅で遺品のスケッチブックを見た時、脳裏にそんな情景が浮かんだ。閉じ込められたままの鳥たちを放たねばならない。
新潟絵屋という森で泉谷さんの作品を存分に羽搏かせてあげたい。（企画者・文：田代早苗／主催：新潟絵屋＋企画者）
I believe that artworks are alive. Even after an artist passes away, the artwork continues to live on independently.
It’s like a birdcage in a room that has lost its owner, with vibrantly colored birds chirping beautifully. That image came to mind when I saw the sketchbook among Machiko Izumiya’s belongings at her home. We must set these caged birds free. 泉谷眞知子（いずみや まちこ）
1950年新潟市生まれ。制作と共に約40年にわたり絵画教室を続け、絵を通して子供から大人までの教え子たちと向き合った。1997・2001年アトリエ我廊（新潟市）、05年たけうち画廊（新潟市）、2012・16・20年新潟絵屋で個展。2024年4月30日逝去。
Machiko Izumiya
Born in Niigata City in 1950. In addition to Izumiya’s own artistic practice, she taught painting classes for approximately 40 years, engaging with students ranging from children to adults through the medium of art. She held solo exhibitions at Atelier Garo (Niigata City) in 1997 and 2001, at Takeuchi Gallery (Niigata City) in 2005, and at Niigata Eya in 2012, 2016, and 2020. She passed away on April 30, 2024.
