　藤原祥のえがくものには、あまやかさに近い「やさしさ」と、「荒々しさ」がある。前者はことに色に、後者は筆跡（タッチ）とテクスチュア（質感）に出ている。後者は内なる前者への作者自身の反発、あるいは逃走願望かもしれない。自分のやさしさにおぼれまいとすること、その継続的な、つよく、固い意思が、藤原の絵や立体のどこかユーモラスにも見える風貌の源泉なのだろう。
　サーカスの道化が、笑いを巻き起こしながら、同時に悲しみや哀感をほのかにかさねるように、いわく言いがたい二重の声が、藤原の絵を見る目の底を、じんわりとにじませる。（企画者：大倉 宏）

Sho Fujiwara’s creations possess a “gentleness” bordering on sweetness as well as a　“roughness.” The former manifests itself particularly in color, while the latter appears　in brushwork and texture. This latter quality may represent the artist’s own rebellion against the former, or perhaps a desire to escape it. This persistent, strong, and resolute determination not to drown in his own gentleness is likely the source of the somewhat humorous appearance found in Fujiwara’s paintings and sculptures.
Like a circus clown who stirs laughter while subtly layering sadness or pathos, an indescribable duality of voice slowly seeps into the depths of the viewer’s gaze upon Fujiwara’s paintings. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

藤原 祥（ふじわら しょう）
1950年島根県松江市生まれ。スペイン古典の内面の劇性表現に強く惹かれる。79年サン・フェルナンド美術アカデミー（スペイン／マドリード）卒業。77年タラベラ・デ・ラ・レイナ賞名誉賞受賞。個展は島根県立博物館、ギャラリーHera（ストックホルム）、ギャラリー睦 （千葉）、ニッチギャラリー（東京）等。新潟絵屋では2007、08、10、12、17年に個展開催。2025年7月「第33回 23+無限大展」（目黒区美術館区民ギャラリー）出品。

Sho Fujiwara
Born in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, 1950. Strongly drawn to the dramatic expression of inner worlds in Spanish classical art. Graduated from the San Fernando Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Madrid, Spain) in 1979. Received the Tarabella de la Reina Award of Honor in 1977. Solo exhibitions held at Shimane Prefectural Museum, Gallery Hera (Stockholm), Gallery Mutsu(Chiba), Niche Gallery (Tokyo), etc. Held solo exhibitions at Niigata Eya in 2007, 2008, 2010, 2012, and 2017. Participated in the “33rd 23 Plus Mugendai Exhibition” (Meguro Museum of Art Citizens Gallery) in July, 2025.
