　「物語が、生まれる」といういつか読んだ本の名を、蓮池ももの新作を見て思い出した。
　蓮池の初期の絵は、ひとりの心の、とほうもない奥行きを映していた。それは今も変わらない。けれどいつしか彼女の絵に物語が息をしはじめてきた。くり返し語られる物語には、形式的反復がみられる。新作では、ネックレスの輪が二重になり、炎に変じ、やがて舞台の、がっしりとした枠のようになり、そこに夏山に生える羊歯を思わせる紋様がひろがりだした。枠は星や森や光る石や女たちや母子がつむぐふしぎな絵の物語に注意を向けさせる。と同時に、物語を物語の外につなぐ生きた「境界」＝形式的反復に成長してきたように見える。（企画者：大倉宏）

　The name of a book I read sometime ago, “A Story is Born,” reminded me of a new work by Momo Hasuike.
　Hasuike’s early paintings reflected the unbelievable depth of one’s heart. That has not changed. However, her paintings have begun to breathe with stories. The story told over and over again shows formal repetition. In the new work, the loop of the necklace doubles, turns into a flame, and eventually becomes a sturdy frame for the stage, on which a pattern reminiscent of fern leaves growing on a summer mountain spreads out. The frames draw the viewer’s attention to the stars, the forest, the shiny stones, the women, and the mysterious pictorial story of a mother and her child. At the same time, it seems to have developed into a formal repetition, a living “boundary” that connects the story to the outside of the story. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

蓮池もも（はすいけもも）
1983年新潟市生まれ。2006年fullmoon upstairs、 07・08・09・10・11年画廊Full Moon、12年砂丘館、15・16年ギャラリー島田（神戸）、16年ギャラリー枝香庵（銀座）、21年ギャラリーみつけで個展。新潟絵屋では10・12～22年毎年個展開催。俳誌『白茅』に画とエッセイの連載「森の奥湖の底」を発表。近年は「momonote」や「コーヒーとタープ」などオリジナルグッズの絵を手がける。昨年は大地の芸術祭2022に参加し「山の奥海の底」を発表。十日町市在住。

Momo Hasuike
Born in Niigata City in 1983, Hasuike has had solo exhibitions at Gallery Full Moon in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011, at Sakyukan in 2012, at Gallery Shimada (Kobe) in 2015 and 2016, at Gallery Echo-ann (Tokyo) in 2016, and at Gallery Mitsuke in 2021. She has held solo exhibitions at Niigata Eya in 2010 and every year from 2012 to 2022. She has published a series of paintings and essays, “Mori no Oku Mizuumi no Soko,” in the haiku magazine Hakubou. In recent years, she has painted for original goods such as “momonote” and “coffee and tarp.” Last year, she participated in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2022 and presented “Depth of Mountain – Bottom of Ocean.” She is based in Tokamachi City.

十日町市の「やぶこざきキャンプ場」で、週末と祝日だけ営業している自家焙煎コーヒー店が特別出店します。店主が淹れるコーヒーをおたのしみに。
コーヒーとタープの店主は写真家で蓮池ももさんのパートナー、会田法行さん。会田さんがかつて取材した東ティモールのフェアトレード有機豆を使用しています。
