栗田宏展 – 新潟絵屋

　去年8月に70歳で亡くなった栗田宏が最晩年に描いた赤い絵と青い絵を数点、その冬の砂丘館での梅田恭子との二人展で展示した。同じ時期の赤い絵に、ほほえむ顔の絵があった。
　1980年代の抽象的（に見える）素描にも「顔」と題された絵がいくつかあった。赤い顔たちを見ていると、外貌としての顔というより、私たちが具体的な顔に向き合うとき受け取る「感じ」を描いているのではないかと思えてくる。
　赤子がまず出会う人である母の、顔の認知に先立ち、導くなにかを。人生の最後が最初につながっていくようなこれら素描から、残された栗田の絵群を見ていくことを始めたい。（企画者：大倉宏）

Several red and blue paintings by Hiroshi Kurita, who died last August at the age of 70, were shown in a dual exhibition with Kyoko Umeda at Sakyukan that winter. One of the red paintings from the same period had a smiling face.
There were also some abstract (seemingly) drawings entitled “Face” from the 1980s. Looking at the red faces, it seems to me that they depict the first “impression.”
Something, that precedes and guides a baby’s recognition of a mother’s face, the first person a baby encounters. From these drawings, which seem to connect the end of life to the beginning, I would like to begin looking at Kurita’s remaining paintings. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

栗田宏（くりたひろし／Hiroshi Kurita）
1952年白根市（現新潟市南区）生まれ。「生成」「気」「密」などのテーマで制作を続ける。84・85年現代画廊（東京）、2000・02・04・14・15・16年新潟絵屋、04・05・07・08・09・10年画廊Full Moon、07年砂丘館、11年阿彌陀瀬（五泉市）にて個展。砂丘館で11年「栗田点華雪」、13年「平野充・栗田宏」、22年「特別展示　栗田宏梅田恭子」開催。89年「新潟の絵画100年展」（新潟市美術館）、 00年「見えない境界変貌するアジアの美術光州ビエンナーレ2000（アジアセクション）日本巡回新潟展」（新潟県民ギャラリー）出品など。
Kurita was born in 1952 in Shirone City (currently Minami Ward, Niigata City). He worked continuously on themes such as “Seisei” (generation), “Ki” (qi), and “Mitsu” (density). Solo exhibitions were held at Gendai Gallery (Tokyo) in 1984 and 1985, Niigata Eya in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2014, 2015, and 2016, Full Moon Gallery from 2004 to 2010 except for 2006, Sakyukan in 2007, and Amidase (Gosen City) in 2011. He held dual exhibitions at Sakyukan: “Kurita Ten Kasetsu” in 2011, “Mitsuru Hirano and Hiroshi Kurita” in 2013, and the special exhibition by Hiroshi Kurita and Kyoko Umeda in 2022. He participated in “100 Years of Niigata Painting” (Niigata City Art Museum, 1989), and “Invisible boundary: metamorphosed Asian art: travelling exhibition: Asian section of Kwangju Biennale 2000 Japan Tour in Niigata” (Niigata Prefectural Gallery, 2000).
