「光の場所」の言葉のもとに信田俊郎が続けてきた方形色面が重なりつつ浮遊する絵を、J・アルバースの「正方形賛歌」と比べたくなる。アルバースの絵の主人公は正方形ではなく「色」だった。正方形を入れ込状にし、形の主張を極限まで弱め、色の和音を純粋、透明に響かせようした。信田の方形は、重なることで形の存在感は強めつつも、絵具の重なり、顫動するタッチ、融け合う輪郭などで色に多彩なニュアンスを加味し、アルバースとはことなるオルガンのにごりと複雑さと奥行きのある重奏を生み出そうとしている。近作の油彩の前にたつと、画家が描き続けてきた時の厚みが、色という音に、光になって押し寄せ、身体を貫いていくのを感じ感動する。（企画者：大倉 宏）

It is tempting to compare the painting of floating, square color planes overlapping each other, which Toshiro Shida has continued under the term “Place of Light,” with the “Homage to the Square” by Josef Albers. The protagonist of Albers’ paintings is not a square but a “color.” He made the squares embedded in each other, reducing the targeting on form to the utmost limit, so that the chord of color would resonate with purity and transparency. While the overlapping of Shida’s squares strengthens the presence of the shapes, the overlapping of the paint, the shaking touch, and the fused contours add a variety of nuances to the colors, creating an organ’s ensemble: muddle, complexity, and depth of a different kind from Albers’. Standing in front of his recent oil paintings, I was moved to feel the thickness of the time the artist has spent painting, which surged through my body in the sound of color and light. 信田俊郎（しだ としろう）
1953年佐渡市赤泊生まれ。78年新潟大学教育学部美術科卒業。85年には画家末松正樹と初めて会う。88年ニューヨーク近代美術館で見た絵画、特にバーネット・ニューマンの作品の印象が以後の制作の出発点となる。79年アトリエ我廊（新潟）にて初個展。以後制作と発表を続ける。2011年「新潟の画家たち 色と形を紡いで～そして、希望へ～」（万代島美術館）出品、18年「グリッドから 近藤あき子・信田俊郎展」（砂丘館）が開催される。新潟絵屋では2006・08・12・13年に個展開催。　www.shida-artstudio.com

Toshiro Shida
Born in Akadomari, Sado City in 1953, Shida graduated from the Fine Arts Department of the Faculty of Education at Niigata University in 1978. He met painter Masaki Suematsu for the first time in 1985. The paintings he saw at the Museum of Modern Art in New York in 1988, particularly the works of Barnett Newman, made a lasting impression on him and became the starting point for his subsequent work. First solo exhibition at Atelier Garo (Niigata) in 1979. Since then, he has continued to paint and present his work. In 2011, he exhibited his works at “Niigata Painters: Spinning Colors and Forms – And Toward Hope” at Bandaijima Art Museum, and in 2018, “From the Grid: Akiko Kondo and Toshiro Shida” at Sakyukan. Solo exhibitions were held at Niigata Eya in 2006, 2008, 2012, and 2013.　www.shida-artstudio.com

　少し前の作だけどしんぞうの花火の絵が、いい。夜空にどかんと上がるのではない、シュルシュル、チロチロと手元で光る花火。人は、私は暗がりの中にいる。人から、世界から、へだてられて。 一瞬手花火が灯ると、その明かりと音の分だけそこが照らされる。その一瞬の、光と音という、はかないけれど信じられる支えがなぜか実感されてくる。 絵の部分に、細部に目をちかづけると形容しがたい色や、筆跡や、絵の具の盛り上りや盛り下がりにも、同じチロチロ、シュルシュルが鳴っている。 へだてられながら、そこにいる人の存在に心が明るみ、慰められる。（企画者：大倉 宏）

　Sinzow’s fireworks picture is good, even though it was made a while ago. The fireworks do not shoot up into the night sky with a bang, but instead sparkle and twinkle in your hand – syulu-syulu, chilo-chilo. People, I am in the darkness. I am separated from others and from the world. When the fireworks that are being held light up for a a few moments the area is illuminated by its bright light and crackling sound. For some reason, the fleeting but believable support of light and sound in that moment becomes real to me. If you look closely at the details of the painting, you can hear the same sounds of flickering and sparking – syulu-syulu, chilo-chilo in the indescribable colors, brushstrokes, and rise and fall of the paint. While separated, my heart is lightened and comforted by the presence of those who are there. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

しんぞう
1974年横浜市生まれ。武蔵野美術大学油絵科卒業。個展は、新宿眼科画廊（東京）、DAMギャラリー（韓国）、福住画廊（大阪）、ギャラリーsfera （京都）、2012年砂丘館 「あなたの心の裏の河」（新潟市）、13～16・18・21・23年新潟絵屋など。2009年 「大地の芸術祭」に出品。芸術道場GP（グランプリ）銀賞、第29回損保ジャパン美術財団選抜奨励展入選、第44回神奈川美術展入選など受賞。装画に 「臨床の詩学」（春日武彦・著／医学書院）がある。新潟市在住。www.sinzow.com

Sinzow
Born in Yokohama in 1974. Graduated from Musashino Art University,Department of Oil Painting. S olo exhibitions include Shinjuku Ganka Gallery (Tokyo), DAM Gallery (Korea), Fukuzumi Gallery (Osaka), Gallery sfera (Kyoto), “Anata no Kokoro no Ura no Kawa” at Sakyukan (Niigata City) in 2012, and Niigata Eya in 2013 to 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2023. In 2009, exhibited at the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial. Awards received include the Art Dojo GP (Grand Prix) Silver Prize, the 29th Sompo Japan Art Foundation Selected Encouragement Exhibition, and the 44th Kanagawa Art Exhibition. Her painting is featured as a cover of the book Rinshou no Shigaku (written by Takehiko Kasuga, Igaku Shoin). Lives and works in Niigata City.www.sinzow.com

　久々に梅田恭子の銅版画を展示する。 ｢加えて…点字で言葉をなげかける作品を制作予定｣と連絡をうけた。銅版画と点字の共通点について梅田は語っていた。 エッチングでは版を覆う皮膜の欠／凹が刷りを介してインクの盛り上がり／凸になる。一部の作品の凸（＝点字、線）は今回さわってほしいともいう。｢見る｣が｢見えない｣に裏返され、なにが指あるいは目に映るのか。見るなどの身体的作用の有無の先に、あるいは有無が消去されてあらわれるものに、孤独で果敢なこの表現者は、心をくだいている。（企画者：大倉 宏）

Kyoko Umeda’s etchings will be exhibited for the first time in a while. “In addition, I plan to create a work in which I will throw words at people in Braille,” she informed me. Umeda talked about the similarities between etching and Braille. In etching, the lack/concavity of the film covering the plate becomes the rise/convexity of the ink through the printing process. She also said that she would like visitors to touch the convexes (i.e., Braille, lines) of some of her works. The “seeing” is inverted into the “unable to see,” and what is reflected in the fingers or eyes? This solitary and intrepid artist is devoted to what appears beyond the presence or absence of physical actions such as seeing – what appears when the presence or absence of physical actions is erased. 梅田恭子（うめだ きょうこ）
1971年東京都生まれ。多摩美術大学美術学部デザイン科グラフィックデザイン専攻卒業、96年同大学大学院美術研究科デザイン専攻修了。94年から制作と発表を続ける。近年の個展はギャラリー島田「アトヲヒク記憶」（神戸）、元麻布ギャラリー甲府「置去傘 ―おきさるかさ―」（甲府）、GALLERY SAOH&TOMOS「3の秤」（東京）、菊川画廊「ガガンボは決して美しい羽を欲しいとは思わない」（宇部）、刊行物に銅版画集 『ツブノヒトツヒトツ』（2009年／言水制作室）がある。

　闇ではなく、暗がりを、カップに映った顔のむこうに女が見ている。その暗がりに男がうずくまっている。蓮池ももの新作の2点。暗がりは孤独、ジェンダーとともに蓮池の絵に聞こえていた低音で、生命の過剰とも思える植物の繁茂が地模様となってひろがるとともに、新たな響きをともない浮上してきた。蔦の隙間の窓にのぞくうつ向く横顔と暗がりをいく装束のひと。暗がりは底面に光を、他者の存在という体温を沈ませている。（企画者：大倉 宏）

Not blackness, but darkness, with a woman looking at the reflection of her face in the cup; A man is cowering in the darkness – two new works by Momo Hasuike. The darkness, along with loneliness and gender, is the bass sound heard in Hasuike’s paintings, and it emerges with a new resonance as the overgrowth of plants, which seems to be an excess of life, spreading out as a ground pattern. The depressed profile peeking through a window in the ivy and a person in costume moving through the darkness. The darkness is submerging the light at the bottom and the body heat of the presence of others. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

蓮池もも（はすいけ もも）
1983年新潟市生まれ。2006年fullmoon upstairsでの初個展以降、画廊Full Moon、新潟絵屋、砂丘館、ギャラリーみつけ（新潟）、ギャラリー島田（神戸）、ギャラリー枝香庵（銀座）で個展。大地の芸術祭2022にて「山の奥　海の底」を発表。2013～16年俳誌『白茅』に「森の奥 湖の底」を連載。絵本に『おにがくる』（めくるむ／あいだのりゆき作）、装画に『あいだのわたし』（岩波書店／ユリア・ラビノヴィチ作）がある。十日町市在住。Instagram@momohasuike

Momo Hasuike
Born in Niigata City in 1983, Hasuike has had solo exhibitions at Gallery Full Moon since 2006, at Niigata Eya, at Sakyukan, at Gallery Mitsuke (Niigata), at Gallery Shimada (Kobe), and at Gallery Echo-ann (Tokyo). Participated in the Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial 2022 and presented “Depth of Mountain – Bottom of Ocean.” Published a series of paintings and essays, “Mori no Oku Mizuumi no Soko”, in the haiku magazine Hakubou from 2013 to 2016. Her picture book, Oni ga kuru (Mekurumu, by Noriyuki Aida) and the cover art of Aida no Watashi (Original title is DAZWISCHEN:ICH, Iwanami Shoten, by Julya Rabinowich). Based in Tokamachi City.
