　8年ぶりの個展。
ということはその間、仕事場を訪ねなかったことになるけれど、そんな歳月はなかったようにそこには同じ時間と、空気が流れていた。その空気が生き生きしているのは、橘がいつも新しく絵に向き合っているその「今」が、部屋に流れ、躍動しているせいだろう。30号の新作の青が、これまでの鮮やかさに加え、複雑な奥行きと陰影を奏で始めていた。ひとりの女ではなく、もう一人や、子どもや、卓上の光景なども画中に呼び込み、画家の視線もゆるやかな広がりと深みを加えてきたようだ。絵の魅力を、見る高揚を、80歳を越えた画家の新作展で伝えたい。（企画者：大倉宏）

橘 三紀（たちばな みき）
1941年両津市生まれ。69年大橋広治先生の知遇を得、師事。72年光風会展に入選、76年光風会会員に挙げられる。99年光風会退会、現在に至る。個展、グループ展多数。

Miki Tachibana’s Exhibition
This is Tachibana’s first solo exhibition at Niigata Eya in eight years. This means that I didn’t visit Tachibana’s studio during that time; but I felt that the time and atmosphere had never changed and flowed in the room, as if no time had passed. What made me feel that way was because the air was lively, and I felt the “contemporariness” of his attitude towards art was always fresh, and its spirit flowed from the paintings and reverberated throughout the room. The blue in the new work (920 x 727 mm) shows a complex interplay of depth and shading, in addition to the vividness present in previous works. The artist seems to have added a gradual breadth and depth to the painting; it reveals not only one woman, but also another one, a child, and a tabletop scene. I would like to convey my delight and exuberance in appreciating the paintings in this exhibition of new works by the artist, who is now over 80 years old. (Exhibition Curator: Hiroshi Okura)

Miki Tachibana
Born in Ryotsu City in 1941, Tachibana studied under the tutelage of Hiroji Ohashi since 1969. He was selected for the Kofukai exhibition in 1972, and was elected a member of the Kofukai in 1976. Resigned from Koufukai in 1999 and has been painting alone ever since. He has had many solo and group exhibitions.

　マソード・シャサヴァリーは光速で生きている。動いている。その彼の目からは町の建物も、壁に描かれた絵も、行き交い佇む人も、道や窓も、差す光も鳥の影もほぼ同じように、静止している。不思議なことにそれはたった一つの瞬きの中でだけ世界を見る、写真の目と同じだ。上海もバルセロナも、新潟も、リスボンも、そこで起こっている、流れている、異なることごとや時間もまた、流れ星であるマソードの瞬きという現象である写真の掌上では一つに見える。そのような写真を私たちのゆるやかな時間へと解凍するのも自由。あるいは私たちを通過した隕石のかけらとして、自分の瞬きの襞にしまうのも自由だと、光速の人はささやいていく。（文：大倉 宏　企画者：大倉 宏・岡部安曇）

Masoud Shahsavari lives at the speed of light. He is moving. Through his eyes, the buildings of the city, the pictures on the walls, the people passing by, the streets and windows, the light streaming in, and the shadows of birds are almost equally motionless. Strangely enough, it is just like the camera’s perspective, which sees the world only in a single blink of an eye.Shanghai, Barcelona, Niigata, Lisbon, and the different things and times that are happening and flowing there also appear to be “one” in the frame of the photograph, which encapsulates the phenomenon of the flash of a shooting star, Masoud.We are free to thaw such a frozen image and to savor it in our own slow-motion time frame. Or we are free to put them in the folds of our own blink of an eye image, like fragments of the meteorite that passed us by. The man of light speed whispers. Masoud Shahsavari（マソード・シャサヴァリー）
1965年イラン生まれ。1983年からスウェーデン在住。ストックホルムのアーティスト・ラン・ギャラリー Studio44、アートスペースSlipvillan のメンバー。Swedish Curator Association会員。多分野で創作し、現在は主に写真作品に注力している。

　10年ぶりにマドハット・カケイの絵を新潟で紹介する。それも2会場で。カケイもスウェーデンから来日し新潟に来る。
　新潟絵屋での展示に先だち砂丘館で行うトークのためのやりとりで、彼の母国語がクルド語の一方言ソラニだと知った。ソラニを日本語に通訳できる人自体が日本に少ないことも。彼のFacebookにはそのソラニが話されているであろう故郷イラク北部地方の写真、動画がよくアップされる。見る毎に風土と風景の圧倒的な違いを感じるが、そこに生まれ、今も強い思いを寄せる画家が30年以上前、千葉に来て、湿った空気の中で生んだ不思議な化合物のような魅力的な絵の数々を、絵巻のように広げて眺めたい。（企画者：大倉宏）

　For the first time in 10 years, Madhat Kakei’s paintings will be displayed in Niigata at two venues. Kakei also came to Japan from Sweden and will be staying in Niigata.
　In an exchange for a talk to be held at Sakyukan prior to the exhibition at Niigata Eya, I learned that his native language is Sorani, one of the Kurdish languages. I also found that there are few people in Japan who can interpret Sorani into Japanese. On his Facebook page he often uploads photos and videos of his hometown in the northern region of Iraq, where Sorani is spoken. Every time I see them, I feel the overwhelming difference between the climate and landscape into which this artist was born and for which he still has strong feelings, and the Chiba he came to more than 30 years ago to create paintings.
　I would like to unfurl and view those images he painted in Chiba like an emaki (picture scroll); they reveal a series of fascinating paintings like a mysterious compound created in the humid air. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

Madhat Kakei（マドハット・カケイ）
1954年イラク・キルクーク生まれ。バグダッドとマドリードのサン・フェルナンドス美術学校に学ぶ。イラン・イラク戦争の最中、軍から山岳地帯に逃れ、のちスウェーデンに滞在し、同国市民権を獲得。86年の初来日後、千葉とストックホルムとパリのアトリエで制作。アラビアンネームの「モハメッド・M・アリ」名で発表していたが（洲之内徹『さらば気まぐれ美術館』にはモハメッド・M・アリで登場）、現在はクルド人の宗教であるゾロアスター教の信仰者に多いカケイの名に変えている。2002、07、13年新潟絵屋で個展。https://www.madhatkakei.se/

Born in Kirkuk, Iraq in 1954. Studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando in Madrid, and Baghdad. During the Iran-Iraq war, he fled from the military to the mountains and later stayed in Sweden, where he acquired citizenship. After first coming to Japan in 1986, he has been working in ateliers in Chiba, Stockholm, and Paris. He had exhibited under the Arabian name “Mohammed M. Ali” (he appears in Toru Sunouchi’s “Saraba Kimagure Bijutsukan” under the name Mohammed M. Ali), but has changed his name to Kakei, which is common among believers in the Kurdish religion of Zoroastrianism. He held solo exhibition at Niigata Eya in 2002, 2007 and 2013.

マドハット・カケイの大作を展示した砂丘館の蔵の一階で、堀川久子が踊ります。
カケイが1980年代に制作した絵画群に囲まれた空間からどのような踊りが生まれるのか。スリリングな時間が始まります。

堀川久子（ほりかわひさこ）
1955年新潟市生まれ。美学校・小杉武久音楽教場で即興を志す。舞踊家・田中泯の主宰した身体気象研究所、農場、舞塾などでの20年の活動の後、1998年に新潟市に帰郷。新潟市を拠点に欧州へ行き来しながら踊ってきた。場所に生まれる踊り、人、物との間に生まれる踊り、外界の要素を身体に取り込みながら、そこに生まれてくるものを眺めていく。野外の様々な場所でも踊ってきた。知的障がいを持つ人々とのワークショップを続け、集落に生きる昔ながらの芸能を訪ね歩いている。

　木戸廷一さんは田部直枝さんの長女のお連れ合いで、眼光も言葉も鋭い方だった。義父の田部さんが60代後半に始めた画廊たべの理解者でもあった。好みは独自で、画廊たべの常連の画家たちの中では孔版画家の本間吉郎を高く評価していた。その木戸さんが遺された絵に、田部さんが所蔵されていた絵の一部を添えて頒布のための展示をする。
　頒布は販売より見る人から見る人に絵が渡されていく感じを伝える言葉だ。田部さんは晩年の佐藤哲三の生活を支援するため頒布会を組織した。そうして散らばった絵を訪ね歩いた1980年代の経験が家（生活の場）と絵のことを私が考えるきっかけになったのだった。（企画者：大倉宏）

　Teichi Kido was the companion of Naoe Tabe’s eldest daughter, and he was a man of keen eyesight and sharp words. He was also an understanding friend of Gallery Tabe, which his father-in-law, Tabe, had started in his late 60s. His tastes were unique, and among the painters who were regulars at Gallery Tabe, he held the stencil artist Kichiro Honma in high esteem. The exhibition will be held for distribution of Kido owned paintings, along with some of the pictures from Tabe’s collection.
　Hanpu is a word that conveys the feeling of a painting being passed from viewer to viewer rather than sold. Mr. Tabe organized the hanpukai to support the life of Tetsuzo Sato in his later years. My experience in the 1980s of visiting the scattered Sato’s paintings led me to think about home (a place for living) and painting. (Exhibition Planner: Hiroshi Okura)

▶ 2003年7月　絵のある茶の間「画廊たべ」を偲んで　田部直枝・追悼展

田部直枝（たべ なおえ）
1905年新潟市生まれ。銀行員時代の画家佐藤哲三、佐藤清三郎らとの深い交友が原点となり、退職後新発田の自宅一画を改装し、67歳で「画廊たべ」を開設（95年まで）。二人の佐藤のほか、山上嘉吉、東本つね、上野誠、高良真木、細野稔人、本間吉郎など多くの画家を年2～3回のペースの企画展で紹介。日本家屋のギャラリーは画廊主の人柄とともに、多くの人に親しまれた。2003年3月2日97歳で没。

Naoe Tabe
Born in Niigata City in 1905. His deep friendship with painters Tetsuzo Sato and Seizaburo Sato while working as a bank employee became the starting point of his career. After retiring, he renovated a corner in his house in Shibata City and opened “Gallery Tabe” at the age of 67 (1972 to 1995). In addition to the two Sato artists, he introduced many other painters such as Kakichi Yamagami, Tsune Tomoto, Makoto Ueno, Maki Kora,Toshihito Hosono, and Kichiro Honma in exhibitions held two or three times a year. The gallery, designed in a Japanese-style house, was loved by many people and so was the personality of the gallery owner. He died on March 2nd, 2003 at the age of 97.
